I want to remove and then reinstall the Zune software

The steps given below can bring the finest steps to remove and reinstall the Zune Software. If you want to perform a clean startup procedure, you can follow the following steps.
Performing a clean Startup:
The steps given here for Windows XP
a. Go to Start Menu and choose Run. Instead, you can press Windows Key + R Key to get the Run command.
b. Then type “msconfig” in the Run command box.
c. Then choose the General tab and then choose Selective Startup.
d. After that, under Selective Startup uncheck the following check boxes.
o Process SYSTEM.INI File
o Process WIN.INI File
o Load Startup Items
e. Now, click on the Service Tab and then select the Hide All Microsoft Services check box.
f. Now, click Disable All.
g. Then click on OK and then click on Restart.



The steps given here for Windows 7 or Windows Vista
a. Click on Start then type “msconfig” in the Start Search box and then press Enter.
b. Now, if you’re asked for an administrator password or for confirmation, you have to enter it and then click on Continue.
c. After that, click on the General tab and then choose Selective Startup.
d. Under Selective Startup, you can clear the Load Startup Items check box.
e. Now, click the Services tab, then choose Hide All Microsoft Services check box, and then click on Disable All.
f. Now, click on OK and then click on Restart to restart the Computer.

That’s it. All it’s done.
Now, follow the steps to remove the Zune software from the Computer.

For Windows XP
a. Ensure that the Zune Device isn’t connected to the Computer.
b. After that, go to the Start Menu and choose Run. Instead, you can press Windows Key + R Key to get the Run command.
c. Then type “appwiz.cpl” in the Run command box.
d. Then click Zune and then click on Remove from the Add/Remove Programs Window.
e. Now, you should confirm by clicking Yes to remove the Zune software.
f. If you find any of the following Software in the Add/Remove Programs Windows, you can remove them from the Computer.
o Microsoft User-Mode Driver Framework Feature Pack 1.0
o Windows Driver Package – Microsoft WPD
o Windows Media Format 11 SDK
o Windows Portable Devices
Remember, not to remove the Program Dependencies from the Computer even if they are restricting you to remove the software. Microsoft User-Mode Driver Framework Feature Pack 1.0 and Windows Driver Package Microsoft WPD will be automatically installed when you run Zune Setup.
g. Then on the computer, open the following folder:
c:\program files
If the programs list does not appear, click Show the contents of this folder.
h. Now, you’ve to locate and right-click the Zune folder, and then click Delete.
For Windows 7 and Windows Vista
a. Ensure that the Zune Device isn’t connected to the Computer.
b. After that, go to the Start Menu and choose Run. Instead, you can press Windows Key + R Key to get the Run command.
c. Then type “appwiz.cpl” in the Run command box.
d. Then click Zune and then click on Remove from the Add/Remove Programs Window.
e. Now, you should confirm by clicking Yes to remove the Zune software.
f. If you find any of the following Software in the Add/Remove Programs Windows, you can remove them from the Computer.
o Microsoft User-Mode Driver Framework Feature Pack 1.0
o Windows Driver Package – Microsoft WPD
o Windows Media Format 11 SDK
o Windows Portable Devices
g. Then on the computer, you should open the following folder:
c:\program files
h. Then locate and right-click the Zune folder, and then click Delete.
How to empty the Windows temporary folder
To empty the Windows temporary folder, follow these steps:
1. Go to Start Menu and choose Run. Instead, you can press Windows Key + R Key to get the Run command.
2. Then type “%temp%” in the Run command box.
3. Then click Edit, and then click Select All or press Ctrl + A.
4. Click File, and then click Delete or simply press the Delete Key.
5. Then you can receive the following message:
• Are you sure you want to send these items to the Recycle Bin?
• Now, click Yes.
How to return to the typical startup procedure
After the installation of the Zune software is complete, reconfigure the computer so that it uses the typical startup procedure. To do this, follow these steps:
1. Go to Start Menu and choose Run. Instead, you can press Windows Key + R Key to get the Run command.
2. Then type “msconfig” in the Run command box.
3. Then on the General tab, choose Normal Startup, and then click on OK.
4. Now, restart the computer.
5. All it is done.
