Some important and useful Active Directory Support Tools

As you know, Windows Server 2008 R2 has come out with numerous support tools for configuring, managing and troubleshooting Active Directory. In this article, we have given brief notes of some of the most useful support tools and their executables. We hope it will be very useful for you.

First one is ADSI Edit (Adsiedit.msc)
You can use this to open and edit the Active Directory Services Interface for domain, schema and configuration containers.

Second one is Active Directory Administration Tool (Ldp.exe)
It is able to perform Lightweight Direct Access Protocol simply known as LDAP operations on Active Directory.

Third one is Directory Services Access Control Lists Utility (Dsacls.exe)
It can manage access control lists (ACLs) for the objects in Active Directory.

Fourth one is Distributed File System Utility (Dfsutil.exe)
It is able to manage the Distributed File System (DFS) and displays DFS information.

Fifth one is DNS Server Troubleshooting Tool (Dnscmd.exe)
It is able to manages properties of Domain Name System (DNS) servers, zones, and resource records.

Sixth one is Replication Diagnostics Tool (Repadmin.exe)
You can use this to manage and monitors replication using the command line.

The seventh and the last one is Windows Domain Manager (Netdom.exe)
This command lets the domain and trust relationships management from the command line.
