Fix: Microsoft Office 2010 Upload Center opens a wrong file on aSharePoint Server

If you’re using the Microsoft Office 2010 Upload Center, you might have faced the issue that it opens a wrong file on a SharePoint Server. Now, let’s discuss about troubleshooting this issue. There are three different method available to fix this issue.
Method 1
First method is opening the documents directly from the SharePoint library by using the Library Tools. In this scenario, it is not required to use Microsoft Office 2010 Upload Center.
Method 2
The method 2 is about changing the Microsoft Office Document Cache settings. All it is required to do is clearing the Office Document Cache and then preventing the Office Document Cache from retaining the closed documents.
If you want to clear the Office Document Cache, you can follow the following steps.

1.    Click on the start button, select All program and then select Microsoft Office.
2.    Then, point to Microsoft Office 2010 Tools and select Microsoft Office 2010 Upload Center.
3.    You may also open the Microsoft Office 2010 Upload Center by typing the upload center in the search box and then pressing the enter key.
4.    Now, select the settings option in the menu and click on the Delete Cached files option.
5.    Then, click Delete Cached information to confirm the deletion of the files.

If you wish to prevent Microsoft Office Document Cache from retaining closed documents, you can follow the following steps.
1.    Click the start button, select All Programs and then select Microsoft Office.
2.    Now, select Microsoft Office 2010 Tools and then click Microsoft Office 2010 Upload Center.
3.    Then, in the settings menu, it is required to click “Delete files from the Office Documents Cache when they’re closed”.
If you’ve successfully clear the Office Document Cache, it is required to wait until the last saved document is uploaded to the SharPoint Library before you open the document that you want.

Method 3
The third method is about renaming the affected files. Therefore, the file names will be significantly different. If the files are part of a series, it is required to add a number string to the file name to help differentiate between the files. Now, you can start using the Microsoft Office Upload Center as usual.
