Innovative kaohsiung port terminal reduces the traffic of pedestrian

This is an experimental three dimensional urbanism to amplify the flow of pedestrian traffic. The name of the concept is Kaohsiung Port Terminal. It is designed with an elevated and activated boardwalk that is able to run continuously along with water. Under this public walkway, you can find cruise and ferry functions. As it has multiple layers, separating cruises and ferries will help us maintaining secure areas for departing or arriving passengers. Besides, this elegant space connects the new Pop Music Centre, the arts and shopping districts within a green necklace along with the waterfront.

Subsequently, the concept ensures the clusters of commercial entities grow along the walk which will ensure the continuous economic viability of the port terminal, sustaining and amplifying the periodic maritime uses of the cruise terminal ferries. The approximate budget of the construction is $85,000,000 USD. The project is scheduled to begin in 2012 and expected to be finished in 2014. Reiser and Umemoto are the designers of this concept.
