Tips: How to create and use the Starter GPOs in GPMC

If you create a new GPO in the GPMC, it means that you’ve the opportunity to base the new GPO on a starter GPO. As the settings of the starter GPO will be imported into a new GPO, this lets you use a starter GPO for defining the base configuration for a new GPO. However, it is required to create different categories of starter GPOs ina larger organization. Therefore, you can use them on the required security configuration.
Follow the following steps to create a starter GPO.
First, in the GPMC, it is required to expand the entry for the forest you wish to work with.
1.    Then, you can double click the related domains node to expand them.

2.    After that, it is required to right click the Starter GPOs and then select New.
3.    Then, it is required to type a descriptive name for the new GPO, such as General Management User GPO in the New Starter GPO dialog box.
4.    If you wish, you can enter the comments that descript the purpose of GPOs.
5.    Now, you can click OK and right click the new GPO and select Edit.
6.    Then, you can configure the necessary policy settings and then close the policy editor in the new GPO.
