19 Critical and Important Security Updates from Microsoft for OS andUtilities

Always ever - vigilant to plug the vulnerabilities in its entire range of products, Microsoft released certain critical patches (security updates) for more than 19 flaws. They include patches for Windows 8, for utilities like Internet Explorer 9, .Net development framework, Excel, for Silverlight which affects for Windows and Mac computers. Four of these patches have been termed as critical updates for security flaws likely to compromise the device’s or system data’s security. Other patches have been classified as important or moderate for protection against the possibility of malware or hackers attack.

Director of security operations Andrew Storms insists on first using the patches for internet explorer 9 as users are being tricked by hackers into browsing to malevolent sites. This flaw has been exploited for about a month by the hackers in Windows XP (SP3), Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8 which uses IE6 web browser and above. However, logging in as ‘administrator’ and not as ‘user’ is more risky for system files and documents being affected. With the security updates, Microsoft believes these flaws are neutralized to the maximum.
