Convertible and Expensive, Dell XPS 12 Ultra book

For those who want the benefits of a PC and a tablet combined together, Dell has launched its hybrid laptop ‘Dell XPS 12’ ultra book. It would be a Windows 8 laptop for the office and a tablet with Windows Metro Interface for leisure. The unique feature of this device is the flip screen, which rotates on two hinges and can be laid flat on the table facing outwards after being flipped. The display is a 12.5 inch full HD and made of Gorilla Glass. The display would be the game changer which has a 1,920 X 1,080 pixels resolution in a 12.5” screen.

The hybrid comes with a weight of 1.54 Kg which appears to be reasonable, but compared to a tablet, it seems to be heavy. Entry level variant has Core i5-3337U, 4GB ram with 128GB SSD and the top model has Core i7-3537U, 8GB ram with 256 GB SSD. All the models have Intel’s 4000 GPU Integrated HD graphics with dual band (2.4 GHz/ 5GHz) and Bluetooth 4.0. Price is slightly on a higher side with basic model at $1,199 to the fourth model priced at $1,699.
